My friend gave me his #3910 Autometer 5 inch monster tach with shiftlight, but it does not work. He told me there is something wrong with it.

I opened it up and there is an ORANGE wire that is cut and BROWN wire that is also cut. Are those suppose to be cut like that?

If I solder the orange to the orange and the black to the black, will it work?

    Thanks.

If you solder those two pair of wires back together, then it would be set up to run in your favorite V8 car.

This would mean that there is STILL something wrong with the tach... keep looking for a problem.
